On Monday, July 24, the Episcopal youth leaders in our convocation met at Mother Boo’s home for supper and planning. Many exciting ideas were put forth for our youth. The following list is what was decided for this year.
Saturday, September 16 (confirmed) – Beach Sweep sponsored by the City of Lake Charles. The area assigned to Episcopal Day School and others is the area from the Yacht Club along I-10 to the old parking garage. Meet under the pine trees near the Yacht Club about 8:00 and stay as long as you can. We generally finish about 9:30 or 10:00 depending on how many people help. This is a family event and all ages are invited. Parents are asked to join us. Bring gloves and either a bag or bucket in which to put the trash.
Sunday, September 24 – Operation Christmas Child at St. Michael’s – All of the items needed to pack the boxes will be provided. We just need many hands to help pack over 100 boxes. Parents are welcome to help.
Saturday, January 6th – Epiphany Service at Holy Trinity – The unique service of light traces our heritage from creation to today. Youth who want to read are asked to attend one practice the week before.
Saturday, March 24 – Palm Cross Folding at St. Andrew’s – This is an intergenerational event. Youth leaders are asked to bring some of the palms from your own church which will then be folded and returned to you for distribution the following day on Palm Sunday. Lunch will be provided.
Saturday, April 21 – Eucharist, Picnic and Games at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit in Big Lake. Good Shepherd is sponsoring this event and will provide the fried chicken. Others are asked to bring a side dish. The service will be youth centered.
